About the author

What do you get when a young man with a very overactive imagination attempts to create a webcomic with little to no experience in digital art, and instead uses the game creation system Roblox

as a means of pushing out such material?

You get Living Large.

The webcomic started in 2019 by its partially anonymous author, who for now will only be known by his initials, E.N. He hails from the U.S. state of Indiana, which is partially reflected into his work, with its occasional references to various topics regarding Hoosier culture. He currently lives a simple life in a small town, working a full-time job and is actively seeking a potential relationship. He would give a special shoutout to all of the friends and family who gave much encouragement throughout his life, and probably wouldn't have been successful had it not been for them. Living Large was started for the sole purpose of unleashing his creative hidden talent. Whether it gets popular or not is up to the readers and critics to decide, and the author highly recommends sharing this webcomic to others if anybody finds it very creative and funny.

The overall concept of the webcomic actually started a year before the release of the first strip, back in 2018, but was never fully explored upon until the year after. The character of Paxton was first thought up on August 23rd, which is designated as his birthday. Several other characters such as Stephen and Coach Darden were finalized in 2018 as well, but how they were originally going to be in the story was changed significantly. The webcomic was orignally planned to be named simply "Paxton", and would have had a much more realistic plot with the title character simply being a house pet of sorts to the Teller family (the human family). This was ultimately scrapped in favor of a more fantastical setting and storyline, upon realizing that Paxton had much, much more potential than simply being a "A girl and her panda" kind of story. Paxton could have also been a famous professional wrestler, but this aspect was also given up. The decisions were a bit tough to make, but in the end the changes were made so a lot more ideas could be brought up and worked into the webcomic.

Influences of Living Large come from a variety of newspaper comics that the author grew up reading. The most notable of which is, not surprisingly, Garfield. The fat, orange cat serves as a major inspiration for Paxton as a character despite lacking the traits that Garfield has (being lazy, sleeping a lot, making fun of Jon, destroying the house and beating up on Odie, etc.) Both Luann and Foxtrot are also major influences, where the theme is all about family, friends, and popular culture. Other notable comic strips to deserve a mention are Peanuts, For Better or For Worse, Dustin, and Pearls Before Swine.
